The area reminds me of northern Minnesota except a tad more mountainous.

Is there green grass in Grass Valley this time of year, or is it as parched as the rest of that area?

I bought my favorite horse there many years back. It was very pretty in the winter--Low rolling green hills with blowing grass and oaks dotted along. Later in the season the grass turns a pale golden yellow.
