He is using the name and postion of a Russian executive to scam money from innocent people. I played his game for a while to see how far he would go. He not only told me he wanted to purchase my property, but he supposedly wanted me to find other properties to buy for him as well. He had more BS than I have heard in a long time. Wanted me to contact a "wire transfer agent", yeah right, and send him 850 pounds to release his funds from the UK to purchase my home. After I told him what a low life scum bag he was for trying to cheat innocent people online, I threatened to turn all my emails over to the authorities if he ever contacted me again, he never did. He is usng the name Kruglov Vyacheslavovich, an employee for GAZPROM in Russia. If you hear from this guy, report him!!!!!!

I have been receiving emails from this guy too. Only the email address was vmulyak1@yahoo.co.uk He also offered these 2 web addresses to try to establish credibility.

He used the name Vladimir Mulyak.
He is patient and doesn't request any personal information right away. Be cautious.

I just got the same email as outlined here. I responded in kind knowing it was a fraud and asked him to talk to me. He called me up, which I didn't anticipate and wants me to be his agent to buy properties.

Thanks for the post.. This really helped.

He or someone similiar is still at it. He contacted me on 20 Oct. We exchanged emails for two days. He sent offer, I responded with an Offer and Acceptance Contract for him to sign and instructions to wire earnest monies to a Real Estate Transfer Service holding account. When I received his reply I knew it was a scam. I entered his name plus the word "scam" in my search engine and sure enough there it was...numerous links. I filed a complaint with the FTC.

His e-mail address is: vmulyak0@yahoo.co.uk

This is the reply he sent when I asked for the earnest monies:

Thanks for your reply. I need someone to partner with if I must start the investment because I cannot travel now but I will be able to send the needed money for the investment. My investment budget is between 8 and 15 million dollars. I am a Russian and I work in an Oil Company as a management staff in Russia, therefore, I cannot spare one hour to travel for any reason and considering the fact that we are not allowed as serving management staff to have any investment abroad it becomes more cumbersome.I suggest we first of all conclude on our partnership terms before closing on any property since I will be releasing my total investment budget at once. I use UK email address because I worked last in UK before I was posted back to our head office in Russia. Thanks, Mulyak.

Many people have avoided the scam through google searches and I think it's great! I have seen scams reported on Zillow often with someone purporting to be working for the UN from the UK offering to buy sight unseen. You are wise to be wary. Legitimate folks will have the ring of truth so trust your gut. Please report any other scams or new email addresses being used here on the board so others can protect themselves. It helps people find the thread as the scammer change email addresses/names.

Zillow has a new page here that helps sellers learn what to look for so they can avoid being scammed. They have been actively following up on these bogus emails. Zillow has more information including instructions on how to send the original scam email to them here. Hope it helps.

Sounded too fishy from the start. A strange name and a uk email address. Not the typical first time home buyer in my neck of the woods. Thanks for the original post!

I have been contacted by a Vladimir Malyak (Russian oil exec). Seems he keeps using some other russian name every few weeks.I wonder how the real Vladimir would feel about this. Hopefully no one has fallen for this scam. This was the latest response from him after I told him that he needed someone to represent him in the US since buying property here was involved:

I think he's changed his email address and pseudonym - I just heard from "Kruglov Andrey" (kruglov4@hotmail.com), who said he wanted to buy my property. I was suspicious and did some Googling, and the name comes up as another Russian company employee. Thanks for the head's up!
