Hello, first time home buyer from Gwinnett County, GA.

I'm looking for an experienced realtor that specializes in first time home ownerships. I"m also looking for advice on which mortgage lender to choose from: My credit union, bank or something online like Quicken Loans? Thanks!

Choosing your lender is as important as choosing a broker, if not more. Lenders can hang up deals by not being on top of what they do. Lending requirements have become tighter recently and the amount of information required of you, the buyer, is greater then ever. Choose a lender that clearly lays out the process from the documentation required, appraisal, to funding. Make sure the  appraisal gets ordered right after your offer is accepted!!

Please do not forget to have the home inspected. I am an inspector, and am NOT trying to sell myself to you, just giving worthwhile information. A Home Inspection is a great tool for finding potential "hidden" future costs, and can be used as a negotiating tool.

Best of luck to you!

What's nice about Zillow is that you can find a local professional in your area. Make sure you read the reviews.

You can search for agents in your area by going to "Professionals" in the top line and then narrowing it down to agents and location.   There are some great agents out there, some lousy agents and many in between.  Spend time interviewing them before making a decision.

There is a Georgia lender who is quite active in Zillow advice and seems to be very sensible.  Here's a link to his profile.   (I've not done business with him, but do like the information he shares on advice).   If you click on the link, you can look at his contributions.
