I've been in the Southwest Michigan real estate market for more than 20 years, and I have never seen the as many opportunities as there are today. Lakefront property in Michigan, one hour from Chicago, was about 1,000 per foot of lake frontage, or about $100k for a standard 100' wide lot. Three years ago, the value of that same typical 100 foot wide lot on Lake Michigan was approaching $2.5M. Today, there are a few lots on Lake Michigan that can be acquired for about $1M. Granted, the market had become artificially inflated, however, the current values are dramatically overcorrected and I believe as soon as 50% of the country feels confident about the economy, you will see those values increase dramatically and quickly. Now is definetly the time to make the acquisition. Those who wait will be kicking themselves for doing so.

Contributions:9Waterfront property will always be a very attractive asset to acquire, and now the prices are lower than they have been in years. Buyer's should be planning their strategy to purchase lakefront homes during the next few months before prices begin to rise.
