Median household income in Oakton, 2009 is $115k. Median income was $88k in 1999, pre-bubble. In other words, all else being equal, I wouldn't pay much more than 30% more than the same condo sold for at that time. Oakton prices are currently much higher than that, and bound to fall over time. You might want to consider condos in Fairfax (22030, 22031), much more realistically priced

This is a tough question to answer. Selling price and appraised value are different in most instances. The values should be close, but they will be differnet. Drop me a line and I will send you the contact info for a local appraiser.
