Hi Siyahome,
That line is a branch line, It is usually or was traveled by just the local switcher. The switcher usually works nights and travels down the track to the south, does their work and then travels back to the north usually just 5 days a week. Depending on if there are any spurs in the area that they might have to work next to your home that you are interested in, you could possibly here them working. By Federal law any time that they are stopped and then begin to move prior to the movement they must ring their bell and sound their whistle for safety purposes. And they must sound their whistle in approach of any crossing public or private.
This is a branch line and does not have heavy traffic on it compared to the main line. In my earlier days with the railroad I lived in a trailer within 40 feet of the tracks of a main line. It only took me about a week to not hear the trains while I was sleeping.
I do not think that Trains will be a big minus for you on that property but it is a decision that only you can make. One other thing, there is no schedule as to what time the train will be by your property. When you hear or see them then that is when they are suppose to be there. Good Luck and I hope this helps....Hal

Hal, this house is in west chandler, and it's the rail track that crosses Elliot and Ray between Kyrene and Priest Dr. the house literally backs up to the track, with just a wall in between.
Thanks for your response.

Hello siyahome,
I used to work for the Union Pacific Railroad as a Signal Maintainer, if you could give a little more info on where the house is located I might be able to give you an idea of how often the track is used. Is the home located in West Chandler or is it located closer to Old Towne Chandler?

You should think twice about buying this home. Do your homework and also ask your agent. Not the listing agent.
Remember homes like this are lower in value and also will be harder to resell when you want out.
Nothing worst then a train in the middle of the night plus the safety factor if you have children.

Home backs up to a rail track.
