your lease should still be valid and you should be able to stay the remainder. if its mtm, expect your due 30-60 days notice(depending on contract and local laws).
for more info or info related to matters of law, lawyers tend to give great info and you can usually get a free consult if you look around. you really only need to pick one's brain for about 15 mins.

Thank you for the quick replies! We have a 12 month lease that would expire in May. If someone was sent out it would not surprise me if we missed them because we work a lot of long hours. There was never anything sent to us or posted on the door. I will look into finding out who bought the house and try to contact the courthouse.

sometimes they bank/loan servicing company will negotiate letting you stay in the home and pay rent to them while the home is marketed and they may possibly give you first option to buy it. even when there is no lease.
Rent would not be due to the previous home owner, but that doesn't mean just don't pay it. Set aside the rent that you would be paying while you work to resolve where to send it.
Normally the mortgage company will send someone out to verify whether or not the home is occupied and will seek to make contact with you. however you can most likely make contact with them first, check with the county records to see who to contact.
as for what rights do you have...check with an attorney for that.
you might also just talk with the people at the courthouse when you are seeking contact information for whoever bought it at sherrif sale- it may be that they can provide for you some tips or additional helpful info.
if it's not a huge burden for you, I'd suggest making this an inperson request- while you can get info online and over the phone...when you want some extra help a trip to the courthouse is sometimes worth the drive (not always...but if you don't have to use a tank of gas to get there, i'd give it a try)

Do you have a written lease or are you renting month to month?
Home we are renting was foreclosed on and there was already a sheriff's sale?
