I agree with Jeny - although consumers are some times resistent to work with a Realtor, mainly because they don't want to be "bugged", the best resource for a buyer out there is hooking up with a Realtor that is active in the area they wish to purchase a home.  Be sure to be comfortable with that person just like you would any other professional you hire.  Remember also the entire service a Realtor provides a buyer is completely FREE to the buyer.... so use them:)

As a buyer I will strongly suggest to use a realtor on your home search. We realtors have access to the MLS (multiple listing services) this service provides current updated information of the current homes available for sale, recent solds and more. The MLS is usually connected automatically to all other online real estate websites such as Realtor.com, Zillow.com and others. You will be saving time and energy by searching all over the place in your own.
By the way, realtors don't get compensate until the deal is closed, so you get the service for free...Take the advantage...

Locally I search online, offline, through local media, agent/owner signs and through my local social circle.

What do you mean? If you are searching for a home to buy, many use different websites. As professionals we use the MLS.
