We use the MLS data and I also subscribe to Altos Research, which gives specific pricing information each week, as well as what's selling and much more. Contact me if you're interested in any area of St. Louis.

The zillow information is fairly accurate; It is not as reliable for using to list your home and set a price.. but it does give you a general sense of what is going on around your area;
if you are looking for value of your home specifically; you should call a local realty company and ask that they do a CMA and give you detailed comparable addresses and let you know what they feel a buyer would pay for your home in todays market based upon what else is going on in your market area.
good luck

As Realtors, we use a tax software and our MLS data that has fairly up-to-date information. If you have a question about what has sold in a specific area, you can give me the address and I can run what has sold around it in a certain time period - month, 6 month, one year.
Appraisers use the same methods as well. Again if you have a specific address you are looking for near by solds, I would be happy to help you with the information.
How accurate are your sales data for St. Louis, MO or Clayton MO, and how do you find that info?
