You could file a protest with the Uvalde Central Appraisal District but the deadline for this year is May 31.  So you missed it.

It is a very common process.

File property tax  form 50-132 before May 31.
Ask a Realtor to give you comparables for that purpose
You will then get notified of a hearing that usually takes place in July
Take the comparables and plead your case.

Good luck,

Naima

You can hire an appraiser.   Or, you can pull together a list of houses that are comparable in your neighborhood that have sold in the last two or three months.

Most property tax notices include information on how to challenge your appraisal.

Tax assessor or contact a real estate agent for a quick evaluation!  Simple and at no cost / no obligation to sign up!  Agent will come in to your home (they prefer for better evaluation) or over the phone.

Info. necessary is the address, if you know the square footage, bedroom, bathroom.  That's it!

Good luck!

Celia Mayes, R.E. Broker

P.S. Info. obtained, such as Compariables in the neighborhood within a 1 mile radius are provided upon request, then submit to tax assessor right away for re-assessment and adjustment!  Be sure to be ready to ask any questions on your first call for a quick response.
