Is there any chance they remember the title company who closed when they purchased the home? If they don't, their real estate agent certainly would have that information. A quick call to the title company and you could get that information. Correction, the title company who is closing your purchase can get that information for you, from the previous title company.

First of all, THANK YOU! I should re-phrase. The sellers have the docs in storage and my Title Company 'Chicago title Insurance' is asking for proof. There must be a way to identify owner's title based on property address ... or am I missing something!

The title company is giving you the run around. They have a database of who issued title policies and when.

How can I find out if the sellers on the home I'm buying had Owner's Title Insurance?
I close on April 29th and spoke to the Title Company who say they can give me upto a 30% discount on reissue rate of Owner's Title insurance if I can show that the current sellers have it. They just can't find it as everything is in storage. Any thoughts on how I can find this?
