I think the best thing for you , would be to contact a local real estate rental company on Oak Island/Southport and ask them to keep you up to date on what is available for a long term lease.
Did you look at Professionals, on the top bar of this page and see if there are any agents working in that area. A real estate agent have clients who are renting their homes for the year and they will certainly be able to refer you to a rental company.
