How can we get a mortgage for a beach condo - Florida

We have a contact pending on a condo near the beach in Florida. After weeks of due diligence, our lender tells us they can not do our mortgage as the place is considered an investment property as it is within 50 miles of our permanent residence. This was going to be a place for us to enjoy on weekends as it is close to the beach. Where do we go from here to get a mortgage? We are putting 40% down. Thanks!

If you are putting 40%, why can't you purchase the condo as an investment property?  If the condominium complex is warrantable and qualifies for financing, you should be okay.
