How current is the data related to current listings?

I have been following one property for over a year now. It has been listed and delisted 2 or 3 times at several different asking prices and has finally sold. This information was gleaned from a local realtor, not Zillow. Zillow has continued to show this property through the listing/delistings for over a year as "forsale" at a price $200k above the actual asking price? What gives, and is this typical?

So then an owner's or a broker's input to Zillow would displace the actual MLS data for the same property?

edit: I meant this to be a follow on question to wetdawgs reply, but here it is.

Zillow's listings are as current as the listing agents make them.   Zillow is not a brokerage, but allows the agents (or owners for FSBOs) a place to advertise.  If agents chose not to, forget or can't figure out how  to remove their listings from data feeds, then they stay listed on Zillow.

It is a big enough problem that Zillow is actively investigating how to improve the quality of what they present.    In my area, most properties are accurate but not all.
