How do I determine the value of my home for May 2006?

I am doing a tax appeal. I need valuations for May 2006 and January 2008.

I think there are many different reasons for that. Some people who have had no experience with realtors do want to bother them or feel since they aren't buying or selling they should not call. Others have had bad experiences with hard sell realtors that will not stop calling them even if they are not interested in working with that person. And some just do not understand that realtors are experienced at doing CMA's and can help them find the value of their home or discuss their local market even if they are not currently buying or selling.

You need to get the help of a local agent or hire an appraiser. A local agent can help you pull up sales of houses like your that sold between those dates. Zillow comps only go back about 12 months so you need access to the MLS. Many agents will help you with a CMA for tax appeal purposes for a small charge to cover their time. It is worth it and it is the best way to win your appeal short of a retroactive appraisal that may cost $400 each or so.
