If the complaint is with a mistake made on the assessment, such as measurements, as mentioned earlier, then have as much supporting documentations with you. 

If you are requesting a change due to property value changes, then you will need documentation in the form of CMA's to support that your property is comparatively worth the adjustment.

Yes, contact the County Tax Assessors Office, but be prepared with the facts and figures.  Make sure you can back-up your claims.  Depending on what you are disputing.  Square footage? price?  Square footage is a tough one, I know from experience.  Even if you have the builders information and the brochure, if the county accessor makes a mistake when checking the development, it is not easy to get them to change it.  But don't give-up.
