Personal referrals are always the best. You are usually familiar with the property that the agent handled and have formed your own opinions about it. If the agent did a good job for them you can compare your own property and ssee if that agent may be a good fit for you.
It is also good to interview several agents that have been referred to you and compare.

There are many ways to find a realtor. A referral from someone that you trust and has recently sold in your area and price range is a good place to start. An agent who has business (experienced and doing well) while not too over extended with listings, should give you and your house the attention that it deserves. I would try and get someone from an office that is located in your neighborhood. Hopefully the the trends of your area. Good Luck.

1) Try a google seach for the area you want to live in. Then call the realtors and talk to them. If they are advertising on line more than likely they are full time and have been in the business long enough to know what they are doing. 2) Also check facebook and type in your area and see if any pages come up for that section of town. Successful realtors focus on one part of town if they are an expert in that area.

Pick a Realtor who is willing to cancel the listing at any time and for any reason that you choose, with the assurance you can list the very next day with another Realtor. That will separate out the boys from the men...

You need a full time Realtor who is advertising and doing a good business. Look online and see for yourself if the agent is doing a good job with his or her listings.

There is no shortage of Realtors in Atlanta; roughly 25,000 at last estimate. I think referrals can and should carry some weight, but I prefer to handle it in a business like fashion. You should interview 3-5 agents, not unlike you would for a new job. At the end of the day, I would want to know without hesitation that my best interest was being protected, rather than just a means to a paycheck.

When looking for an agent, you need to:1. Feel comfortable with the person - you are likely to spend some time with this person.2. Believe they have a firm understanding of both the market and your specific situation 3. Be confident they are able to accurately work with contracts. 4. Find an agent with solid negotiating skills who can and will go to bat for you.Word of mouth / referral from a friend is the most common way to find an agent. This is good in general, but you owe it to yourself to go a step further. Zillow does offer agent information, and will soon be posting customer reviews along with the basic contact information. You may also want to start by searching in your area of interest, and see who is actively listing homes nearby.

If you haven't asked friends or family for their choice then interview a few yourself. Which one seems to know your neighborhood/area best, a more complete cma(comps) solds=results, expireds=failures, actives=competition. What will be their marketing plan for your property? communication schedule? best of luck, Ceraya
Do a little research, pick up some home magazines, find one that is doing a lot of business and give them a call!
I would suggest you get a referral from a trusted family friend, other friend or co-worker or professional (e.g. CPA, attorney, etc.). Find out who has had a positive experience and cross check with others. That may help you. Best of luck, John

Ceraya,
The best way to find a Realtor is by referral. If you have someone locally that has has a great experience, that is an option. Or you can use a realtor referral service, that finds the top Realtors with proven success rates in your area.
