There is only one way to know what a neighborhood is like... and that is to WALK it multiple times, both day and night, both weekends and weekdays.
It is a violation of the fair housing act for a Realtor® to tell you what a neighborhood is like, and the neighborhoods with more crime problems don't get the calls for service as the police don't respond promptly anyway; not to mention the threats from those involved in criminal activity.
And those with high numbers of "calls for service" may just be more responsive to reporting any unusual behavior.
Boycott the National Association of Realtors®.
Join the American Association of Realty Agents instead.

Call the police departments, check out the crime maps, go drive around the neighborhood during the day and at night, knock on some doors and talk to potential neighbors!
How do I find out about the type of neighborhood.
