Hi 11 Puppies,

talk to an agent and ask them to search the history of the property, one of the issues we as agents are all having is day on market... in our Southern Calif area, home may have gone through 3-5 agents before it finally gets to a realistic sales price.  It may start as a regular listing, then go expired, re-list, then go short sale, and could finally go foreclosure...all of this can take up to a year to transpire... if the property works for you and You see the value, that is the time to buy... prices are low some at 60% off the high mark and interest is artificially low, that will change so money financing is an important factor as you look at all the issues of a purchase.  Keep in mind, a property is available until someone else buys it... and if one deal goes away another will present its self at the right time.... good luck

If you are working with an agent, they can give you this information, or as stated below, you can contact the listing agent.  Sometimes research needs to be done as the home may have been listed previously which would not show on an initial search.

Look for the DOM (Days on market) on the listings details page. If you do not see it, contact the listing agent. (or look on that agents web site and search their listings.)

Don't be afraid to call the listing agent directly. I'm sure he/she would be happy to tell you. The only time an agent might not be able to share information is when your question pertains to the actual selling price of a home during an escrow.

The number of days a house is on the market is open information. The listing agent, or any agent with MLS access should be able to tell you when the home was orginally listed.

Good luck.
