short of having a professional, such as a title company, do the search and issue title insurance you could do the search yourself at the recorders office in the county where the property is located. You might also consider having the seller give you a warranty deed instead of a quitclaim deed, a little more protection for you as the buyer. as always you should seek the advice of a legal professional in all legal matters that you do not completely understand, I am not a legal professional and this is not legal advice. Quit Claim Deed

Contact a title company and pay them to do a title search.
How do I find out if there is a lien on a property I want to buy in Oklahoma, as a quitclaim deed?
