How do I find out the age of a house?

Is there any way on here to look up the construction date of a house?

It should be listed under PUBLIC facts on the address detail page on Zillow.

If the property is listed in the Zillow database, the year of construction will be there. If not, I'd be happy to look it up for you. Just email the property address.

Though county records usually indicate a year, and those are usually referenced on this website, it is almost impossible to get an exact date!  Which one would you want anyway?  The date first occupancy permit was granted?  The date the building permit was pulled?  The age of the wood used in the construction?  The date of "ground breaking"?  The date of "construction completion"?  The date filed with the county?

If you want the age of the wood, carbon-dating may be an option.

(And if your home was built prior to 1849, the year it was built may not be in the county records; but it should still have an approximation).
