How do I find out the current value of my residence in Herald Harbor, Maryland 21032?
Its post office is Crownsville. I wonder if my residence is 'underwater' or not. Thanks.

There are several ways to determine your home's value.  As mentioned in the previous posts, it will depend on your purpose.

If you are considering selling, it would be a good idea to start with a real estate agent to discuss your situation, your expectations and details related to your move.  The real estate agent can be an invaluable resource to you throughout the entire process.

You could also hire a local appraiser to conduct an appraisal for valuation.  Be sure to convey the purpose of the appraisal--either for home resale or refinancing as the valuation methods used may be slightly different.  Costs for this will depend on the size of the home but could range from $450 to $750.

If the appraisal determines that the home value is less than you owe, there are some options to consider.

If I can answer any questions, don't hesitate to contact me.

There are several definitions of value;

1.  The value to a third-party purchaser
2.  The appraised value, as determined by a certified appraiser
3.  The assessed value by the State
4.  The value or "zestimate" provided by Zillow

In a perfect world, these would all be the same.  We can help you determine #1 if you were thinking about selling.  You could hire an appraiser if you were concerned with value #2 (if you need/want to refinance).  #3 can be found on the SDAT website or most recent RE Tax Bill.  #4 can be found simply by searching for your address on Zillow.

Actually, it depends what value you are looking for.  If you want a likely sales price, let me know, because there are many factors that go into that (inventory, interest rates, absorption rate, condition) that go into that, and that is a conversation to have with an experienced realtor.

If you are thinking of refinancing, you need to know what it will appraise for, and you should have an appraisal done.

If you just want to see what prices and activity are near you, then you can receive [hotlink removed by Zillow moderator] and let me know if you have any questions.
