Hello,
check with the Clerk of the Courts office in your county.

Here in MN it is public knowledge, and may be ascertained by calling, or stopping by your county recorder's office. Some counties have the info online. What they cannot tell you is the terms, nor balance of the mortgage.

you might be able to find out how, by going into the public records.Usually they are on line. I agree, it could be tricky though

That can be tricky. Sales are public record. You might call the clerk of courts to see if that's recorded in city records. If so, it's really easy to do. I did it last week for a client I'm working for. I do believe the lender holder is recorded there. Try making the call.

How do I find out who holds the mortage on a property?
