How do I get a notary to help with a Home refinance deal from Wells Fargo?

I currently have a home mortgage with Wells Fargo. I have been offered a no cost refinance deal from them at a lower interest rate. They sent a Close at Home package kit for me to sign and get notarized. Do I need to get a mortgage loan person to help me?

Wells Fargo can definitely notarize the packet, you can find a notary at a local title company or many local credit unions also have notaries that will only charge a small fee.

Usually your bank will have a notary.  Call first to make sure they have one on hand before you make the trip and how much they charge.

If you go in to your local Wells Fargo branch they should have someone there who is authorized to notarize your document.

The good news for you is that most lenders have someone who can notarize the document for you, if that is more convenient - you don't have to go to Wells Fargo. In addition, if you work for a decent size company - chances are that someone in the company has a notary license and can notarize the document for you.

Most important - Congratulations on being proactive and refinancing to a lower rate!

Agreed, I would take it into a Wells Fargo branch.  They should have free notaries on hand, especially if its their own closing package.

Have you checked their terms against another lender? Might be worth an hour of research to have an experienced loan officer help you with the refinance vs. do it yourself.

If you have questions call your Loan Originator to go through the paperwork.   You should always make sure you know what you are signing.

1) ask wells fargo what you need to do ....2) a notary can be found at many places like banks / package delivery places / law firms /  escrow firms   ( they wont be willing / able to explain anything to you  )
