In my experience, u would be required to list your property for sale in order to get a Zestimate. However, be advised that while I am an advocate of Zillow I often find that the "Zestimates" can be inaccurate due to their inability to have a comprehensive knowlege of the area . . .. and real estate is local right down to the neighborhood.
Having said that, if would truly like an "real market value" of your home it would be in your best intersts to solicit the expertise of 3 area agents. Undrstand that you would not be obligated to any as this is the nature of our business. However, if you find yourself most comfortable with one (not necessarily the one who is highest in price, but the one who is most rationale in his/her evaluation) I would most certainly consider that person as the person you would want to market your property as in today's market selling is a challenge.
