I totally agree with the previous posts regarding this question. Using a "zestimate" may be fun to look at, but hardly accurately determining market value. I have seen some zestimates off by as much as $100K. The cheapest way to get a quick look is to contact an agent in your area and let them give you a CMA. This is the same type data appraisers use to determine their values as well.

You can try going here. Type your address in the empty box at the top of the page and hit the blue GO button. You should see a map and a value for your house if Zillow has it listed. Zillow does not give appraisals, but it is a good place to start looking at value in your area. There is more information about what the Zestimate is here.

A local Realtor in your area can also give you more information about your market or do a free comparative market report (CMA) for you. Hope the links help.

The 2 methods I would recommend are either paying for an appraisal or contacting several local real estate agents to get a CMA if you are thinking about selling your home. I would not recommend using just a website to determine the value of your home. Local expertise is needed when answering such an important question.

However, claiming your home and completely filling out everything you can about your home may help to get the zestimate to be a little more accurate or realistic. While the values of zillow may be in the ball park, a 10% difference can be a substantial amount of money and just a ball park estimate is not going to be the help you may need. It may be interesting, but it is not the value to base a decision of any real importance on.
