You can log into your current MLS as a guest and search the lease listings for the agent. Call the agent directly for more details. If you cannot find the agent, either connect with us or an agent you know is licensed or lastly a the manager at our office Gary Reavis 310.623.1300, any one of these approaches will get you an honest answer. Remember the adage, "if it's too good to be true, it probably is"

This Nigerian Rental scam is really making the rounds right now!
Let me guess: the email address was something like: banks.thomas52@yahoo.com yet the person had really poor English?

You have to contact and talk to the listing agent face to face and see the property.

This is a fraud. I have had my lease listings hijacked using this same scenario. Contact the listing agent as they have the owner's authorization to lease the property. Whatever you do DO NOT send any money overseas without first seeing the inside of the property.

Сintact the agent who listed the housed for lease on the MLS and talk to him or her about it. This will clear your doubts. Good luck

Fraud! Why is it the owners are always in London? Is this a hotspot for expatriates?

Currently there is a huge rental scam throughout RE websites and Craigslist. The person claims they are living in the UK and are trying to rent the property to someone who will take care of it for them.
This most likely is a scam especially if they use terms like US $1500 instead of just saying $1500, are currently living in the UK, use a Yahoo email address and are corresponding by email.
This link may help answer some questions.
In any case, proceed with extreme caution. Do not give any money without actually seeing the property or talking to someone face to face.

Forget it! Sounds like a true scam. (However, do flag it for Zillow.)

What I would suggest is you get the name of the listing agent for the property and deal with the agent directly. You will not be charged a dime for taking this route.
How do I know that someone renting a house through Zillow isn't a fraud. The deal seems too good.
How can I be sure that the person I am emailing with in London is not a fraud?
