Zillow doesn't want contact with the readers. They want to cherry pick ideas but not implement those which are important to us. Maybe they should have a massive weekly response or better still get techies that know how to build an interactive website. Perhaps Zillow is run by Walter Reed.

For Drew,

Is it a confessional or do ideas get implemented. If I can'tg get my listing changed or deleted, it only reinforces the belief that the program is static
or nonresponsive. Lots of people have written, yet we have no example of results in this area. Yet it is of primary importance to agents because the listers watch our actions like a hawk to make sure that we do what we say we will do. They can read the words of how easy it is to make changes and wonder why we don't do it. The easier a program is to manage the better it becomes. I usually don't care how the programmer got there, provided it works. I hear the sounds of pachinko balls dropping when I go to zillow.

Thanks for your feedback. We have heard the feedback loud and clear about agents/owners not figuring out how to change the price of their for sale postings -- we're working to improve the usability of editing postings.

To change your posting price (or any details on your posting), click the "edit posting info" in the upper right of the home details page. To remove a listing, click the "update posting status" link right to the right of the for sale price.

When you say "Lots of people have written, yet we have no example of results in this area," can you please elaborate on what sort of results you are looking for?

I am so frustrated!!!!!
I unclick already sold and they still show up. Why do you have to re-enter all info (not that it matters) after every property check. why can't I just backspace and check the next one?????

Do you know if Zillow will ever get a more accurate value system? The house at 5330 N 20th St, PHX, AZ 85016, 2,292 sq ft, value is $382,000 according to Zillow and the house next door at 5332 N 20th St,PHX, AZ 85016, 1642 sq ft, value is $555,000. Both houses have been remodeled recently and both houses have sold within the last 3yrs but the Zillow value does not seem to reflect that.

Drew, it is entirely possible the first and/or second house sold with a wrap around mortgage to avoid registering the sale with the tax assessor in order to avoid higher property taxes. There would not be a public record of the sale

Question for Zillow: On the home details page: when it says "Page views", should I assume it means "page views by someone other than the owner"?

If I've updated my house data I would not want my activities to increment the page view count.

Hi PatSchiermeyer -

I do apologize but right now, the system has no way of knowing if it is only the owner viewing the home details page of his property. The "Page views" counter has been set-up in a way that it counts every visitor of the page, regardless if he is the owner or not.

However, we've been receiving suggestions for page counters not to count visits by the same IP or at least for the owner(s) of the home on his/her page. This has already been forwarded to our product development groups. They use the feedback we receive as an input to design and prioritize future features on Zillow.com.

My finance and I are looking to purchase a home in a new subdivision in Copperopolis, CA. The subdivision has about 15 houses already built and about 8 of them have sold this past year. Zillow does not show the new street nor does it show these new homes. Is there anyway this can be updated soon. We would like to know what the homes sold for. The subdivision is called Copper Hills and the street is Pheasant run Dr., off of Old Byrnes Ferry Rd.

I do apologize if the subdivision you're looking at is not on the website. If this is a new development, it may be possible that our data providers have not yet collected the home information and sale transactions for Copper Hills and Pheasant Run Drive. Additionally, our maps come from a variety of aerial and satellite providers and each are continually trying to update (you can imagine what a difficult task this is for the entire U.S.)! Thus, our maps may be up to 2 or 3 years old in some places and may not reflect new subdivisions.

Rest assured that we are constantly adding information in our database, although sometimes it takes time, because the upload of the updated set of properties are done by batches (you can imagine what a difficult task this is for the entire U.S.).

Does a real estate agent have access/authority to remove homes and/or entire streets from the Zillow database system?

It really is ridiculous that you have no "Contact" info on the website. But I realize this is on purpose and that you are one of those non-customer service websites like Amazon. That said, there are so many problems with the site as listed above. One major oversite is that, after combing your site extensively, I have been unable to find any information about where your traffic comes from. We are told that "we get millions of people visiting our site each month " and you have extensive research, but no actual informatioin on where you advertise the site.

We don't spend money on advertising. Roughly 95% of our traffic learn about Zillow through a friend (word of mouth) or the press (tv mentions, blogs, magazines, newspapers, etc)

Why is there 300k price difference between houses opposite to each other. Check for yourself "macias Lane in zip:95120. One side of the road are higher prices and other side is about 300k less. The houses which are listed lower price are constructed later. Can you correct the discrepency?

I apologize for the confusion.

When you change your posting from For Sale to Make Me Move (or vice versa), all of the info that you've uploaded, including the pics, will be retained. The only info that you need to re-enter would be the posting detail itself (i.e. asking price, etc.)

If you search for your ZIP code on the website, a satellite map will appear, and your posting will be shown below the map together with other postings in your area.

However, if you go to your home details page, you will only see a street map and not an aerial map or bird's eye view. This is because our maps and images come from different sources and sometimes we don't get enough data from these sources to come up with a more detailed or updated image of your area.
