Yahoo Real Estate helps answer some of those questions. It states (once you plug in the address) the schools, age/population, crime, pollution factor and income levels. If you also check the newspaper (online) for that area, you will get a bit of the community sense to see what is the theme for the area. Unemployment, vandalism, stabel economy ect.

Spend some time walking the neighborhood and adjacent streets. Speak to neighbors when possible about certain aspects of the community. They are your best resources. Call the local law enforcement and get some data on crime for that particular area. Just become familar with the neighborhoods by being there and experiencing the atmosphere for yourself. Good luck and let me know if you have any further questions I can help you with.

How do you find out what a neighborhood is like when looking at homes?
