Ohio Code 4112.02(h)(1) reads...

"Refuse to sell, transfer, assign, rent, lease, sublease, or finance housing accommodations, refuse to negotiate for the sale or rental of housing accommodations, or otherwise deny or make unavailable housing accommodations because of race, color, religion, sex, military status, familial status, ancestry, disability, or national origin."

However, "military status", as defined here in Ohio Code 5923.05, addresses "military status" as it relates to public employees who are in the military reserves.

However, the caution against potential discrimination is appropriate - and the OP would be well-advised to run their plan past a RE attorney. However, nothing in the HUD or Ohio code seems to indicate that "military only" would be a violation.

Renee,
Real estate agent/Realtor cannot advertise to one specific group while excluding other groups as it is a violation of Fair Housing Laws.

However, if you are trying to advertise privately, you certainly can advertise on military websites - it is perfectly legal. 
Zillow policy does not allow me to post the websites here, but you can find them by searching "military by owner" "military for sale for rent" in Google.

PLEASE be careful as you may be in violation of the Fair Housing regulations by advertising a rental that excludes any type of prospective tenant.

In Ohio one of the protected classes is Military Status so the sword swings both ways. In addition to the Federal protected classes most states have their own protected classes and she needs to check as she posted this in Ohio military status as well as ancestry are two addition protected classes

According to HUD...

"In the Sale and Rental of Housing: No one may take any of the following actions based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status or handicap..."

Don't see anything about military/non-military. And, now that the military has dropped the DADT policy, it wouldn't seem to even be a secondary impact.

When you throw out a cautionary note like that, it'd be nice if you'd include some reference to a resource where the person can do their own research.

Renee that may be a fair housing violation. Please check with a fair housing organisation in your area before you advertise like that or offer a discount to military only.

Consider (a) having your agent advertise on military websites; and/or (b) stating a lower rental price for active duty military, which indirectly discourages non-military.
