Ok, so I'm hearing that the "zestimates" should be ignored because they are not accurate, they reflect recent sales of homes in my area. I'm kind of new to this, but I thought that was the point about Zillow? Maybe it would be best if they removed the part that reads "This home" from the "Charts and Data" section. Or, maybe better yet, in the "zestimate" calculation process they use the average of the values of homes in the area and not recent high sales. I'm not sure, just thinking....

a full recalculation is about 3 weeks per property. it can take up to two cycles for information to be updated.

the three times a week thing is an update based on nearby stuff effecting your home. it isn't really a full recalculation.

From what I've read zestimates recalculate about three times a week. So a nearby high sale may have contributed to the spike. So it is constantly changing, and banks can't use it, consumers know how off it can be, so yes, I personally would correct any information that was wrong and ignore the zestimate.

You can read about zestimates here: http://www.zillow.com/wikipages/What-is-a-Zestimate/

Thanks. More specifically I was asking about the "zestimate." For instance, according to the "zestimate," my house's value jumped about $300,000 in only a few months then dropped about $300,000 a few months later. I'm not sure if it really matters, however, it makes you wonder what else does zillow have wrong?
