To find out who the listing agent is, if the home is being shown for sale, scroll to the bottom of the page. If it is listed and is your home, report a problem on that same page. You can list a home for sale on Zillow, so no, to your answer, not just realtors and agents can put homes for sale here, you can add one as a for sale by owner.

If your house is listed for sale with the Red House icon on the area map and at the top left of the property page without your permission and knowledge, absolutely follow Hamp's advice.

Good day, in the Southern California market most properties do not last on the market "active" list for very long. In fact if a sale happens to be an equity sale (meaning owners will sale for a gain or profit) this type of sale may last less than a week before it is in the transaction process, making it a "pending" sale (in escrow) or even a sale "contingent" on curtain conditions to clear before the it becomes a "pending" sale (in escrow). You may ask the agent to send you the MLS listing displaying the listing status, which will be dated. Help this helps.

Zillow lists almost all properties with a Zestimate, but that does not mean they are for sale. On a map, Red Houses are actively for sale either by agent or FSBO, Blue Houses have a make me move price set always by owner, Yellow Houses are recently sold, and Gray Houses are not for sale or recently sold. There may also be Purple Houses which are for rent either by owner, property management company or by agent.

On the property pages themselves it a for sale property looks like this with either Listing Provided By box or Contact Owner box at the bottom.

Are you referring to homes with Zestimates? Zillow shows ~100,000,000 homes in the US, only a small portion are for sale. The rest are shown with public data and a Zestimate.

Only credential agents can list homes for sale? Why would someone list a home on Zillow that is not for sale? Are they trying to show false comps for the area?

If a home is listed for sale (with a red icon and a price associated with the words "for sale") , the listing agent will be at the bottom of the home details page.
