We recently found out that we have high levels of stachybotrys, amongst other molds, in our home plus abstesos exposed now where the drywall was removed. We have a 3 month old baby and a 5 year old. The mold inspector stated that these levels are toxic and unhealthy for all of us to continue living there without some sort of remediation. The remediation cost alone is $9000, not including the rebuild, retesting, etc etc, on a home in an area where the value has dropped. What can we do?? It is a 2 bedroom, 1 bath house that is already too small for us. We also have a home equity loan on it, so a deed in lieu of foreclosure is an unlikely option.
