It takes a while for it to get in the system at Zillow and for your name to appear on the list of owners (critical for the "claim" process).     I've seen it be as little as 10 calendar days and as long as 9 months.   Of course, if you know the previous owner's name you can claim it with their name.

If the deed has already been recorded then you can claim it whenever you would like because you are the one on the deed and you own legal title.
