I guess she is too busy praying away the gay to pay attention.
Oh my goodness... She's only on the ticket to get the disgruntled Hillary fans, and it looks like that strategy is working.
PS- where's all that fear of socialism we keep hearing about? So far, this government bailout, handout, entitlement program has had very favorable affects on the mortgage market... Ironic, I think.

I'm a disgruntled Hillary fan and there aint no way. The choice of her moved me to vote for Obama.

I heard on the Today show this morning that Palin's bounce with white women had pushed McCain from 8 points behind Obama to 7 points over. I wasn't really frightened before about Obama losing but I am starting to get worried. Too many folks are drinking the Kool-aid and falling for the gimmick. Haven't they figured it out from the past eight years? My mom always says that people vote with their wallets. Clearly, that's not the case this time. And this bailout is just the latest trick at trying to put a good face on the failed Bush economic policies. So glad the guy has an MBA. It's worked so well for us (oil prices, corporate scandals, fall of the dollar, unemployment higher, failed housing market and that's just the economy).

NO $hit, I was't a huge Hillary fan but I am a devoted Dem, there is no way I would vote for a right wing ANYTHING. It was confusing at first why they picked Palin but there plan seems to be working.......I hope they can find some good dirt on one of them or they mess up so bad at the debates......both parties aren't going to be able to fix the mess we are in sadly, but at least with a dem in office I won't loose any personal rights to my body, not that it is my biggest issue since I am no longer in the baby making biz-there is a principle there......if they get that what next?

The funny thing is that fredie and fannie are not publically funded. They are private companies. The bail out would be publically funded obviously. It just goes to show how little she knows about economics. I mean I am no Randy by any means. But lowly ol' me knows that Freddie and Fannie are private. Seriously guys WTF?

We've already lost rights under Bush...how many more? It seriously is a facist administration. The scare us into giving up some of our freedoms. I am not that scared. I would never have willing agreed to the systematic chiseling of my rights.

I see that as a major blunder. Also, regarding the book banning. She never technically banned any books but she approached a specific librarian 3x with a list. The librarian did not support it so what happens? She gets fired! Yeah sounds like they are bringing change to Washington.
carrie- exactly! Somehow, government takeover of a failed private enterprise is a GOOD THING! How about letting the market finish correcting itself, no bailout? So funny that people freak when they hear 'government', yet right now, a lot of people are thanking their lucky stars it happened (for better or worse, it's still ironic as hell).

I was a McCain supporter when he ran before as he seemed to espouse many of the the better ideas from both Reps and Dems. This time he seems like a ventriloquist dummy mouthing RNC words with a blank wooden stare. I see Palin's nomination as the RNC trying to pick up undecided Hillary supporters (as was mentioned above) and I'm feeling patronized. The RNC thinks women are just a bunch of skirts with no ability to think independently of our men. I most certainly won't be voting for McCain and I'm wholly disappointed by his capitulation to the Repuclican machine.
Judy- I agree wholeheartedly. If Republicans stuck to what they should (taxes, spending, states rights) they might gain a few more fans. But this war-mongering, make everyone afraid, take away rights stuff is getting old. Instead of having many things in common with McCain, I am down to just a handful. Not enough to sway my vote his way.
And with the addition of Palin, it makes me question McCain's leadership. She obviously was not his personal choice. If the party itself can't trust him to make a good decision, how could we exactly???

It really made me nuts yesterday when I heard that women were rushing out to get glasses like hers and have their hair done up! Sh*t, I wear my hair like that everyday, cause I'm lazy, put it up in a clip and go, now I have to wear it down! Anyone see the interview with her friends "the elite 6" they never talk politics! figures. And her church is praying the gay out of people, GMAFB, I didn't think people still believed you could do that!

Oh you'd be surprised what people think of the power of prayer. Don't get me wrong, I'm religious and I pray but I also believe that we were all created by the same God and he obviously had something in mind when he made us this way so who's to say hetero is any better than Gay/Lesbian? Not I, I wouldn't presume and in fact some of the finest people I've ever met were not hetero. I'd better stop now, I have one foot on the soap box already.
Suffice it to say that I won't be swayed by this transparent attempt to capture my empty-headed occaisional skirt wearing vote.

You all are a trip! :-D You can try to pray the gay out of anyone you want as long as you cut spending.
Your disbelief and outrage are just as ridiculous as their actions. Considering you are supposed to the "tolerant" ones, it makes you hypocrites. ;) A tolerant society does not mean you agree or even embrace other views, it means you TOLERATE the other views. Something you clearly are unable to do. Let them pray and let the others “gay”, just get out of the way of progress.
Belief is not based on fact. Look at both the McCain and Obama platforms if you need more proof. ;-)
Palin is working as intended. When you look at the contested areas, she gets the Bubba vote and the WASP vote. McCain + her politics gets the geriatric vote. Obama is left with minorities (check the word MINORity as in less bodies), and the youth vote. Obama also loses the 20-40% of the evangelical vote he was hoping to get by hugging a tree and using the word "god" every 137th word.
You have to look at who votes. McPalin takes the larger chunk. It's going to be a good fight.

Val, you're right it's going to be a good fight. I'm still distressed by the Reps tactic with Palin. I, however respect your opinion and your right to express. Please note that I have registered my opinion and my disagreement without resorting to anger or an attack on you. I welcome a resonable discussion without name calling or denigrating the debaters.

"Hypocrites" is a word over used and often abused. It is a real definition here. It is not a name to be called. I am agnostic, but I go after the "tolerant" that attack the religious. If a Jesus Freak logged on and started calling the moderates names or belittling their arguments, I would be all over them with the "tolerants" at my side. I defend both sides.
I am one of the rare true middle of the roaders. ;-)

Personally, I think it is unseemly to attack anyone based on their physical characteristics or how they choose to wear their hair. I didn't like it when Hillary was bashed for the pantsuits either. Right now I am concerned about this country's hierarchy of needs - jobs (housing, food, clothing) security (to include energy), education, economy (inflation, taxes, the dollar, bailouts, deficits, etc.)... That is a lot to handle. Anything involving pantsuits, praying or gaying is personal to the actor and way off my radar screen ATM.

I find your comment about us being a trip very condescending. I don't care what other people do....as long as they don't try and make me do it. My disgust with Palin is not hypocrtical at all. She will try and make me do it her way. I find the the right wing conservatives to be the wolf in sheeps clothing. Christian beliefs? Um....no. Beliefs you came up with on your own and then used god to justify your behavior. I am NOT the hypocrite here.
my only issue is that they bring out into the spotlight. If those are her beliefs, fine. I'm ok with that. But the fact is, they want to use their personal beliefs when it comes to policy making- so, it becomes an issue. To say that we have to tolerate INTOLERANCE is pretty lame though. I for one, hypocrite or not, am not going to 'tolerate' bigotry and ignorance and all that crap.

Thanks for getting us back on track. You're right the serious issues are the economy, environment, and our international relations. While I have doubts about any candidate's ability to effectively change these things I know I don't want to see four more years of what we have right now. I haven't seen/heard anything that convinces me that McCain will be able to break away from the Repuclican machine and change anything. I believe Obama will try and has a better chance at some success. Both partys have their own agenda's as do the PAC's and each member of Congress it's a lot for one or two individuals to go up against. I don't think McCain will try very hard. I don't think Palin will try at all, I think she'll be completely overwhelmed and if she's ever in the position to take over for McCain I see the Reps flexing their puppet-master fingers.

That is exactly what I am saying. As long as intolerance does not break any laws, you have no choice by the very definition of a tolerant society. Considering the ethical and moral ramifications of the conservative Christians, from their point of view, their actions are very tolerant. They choose to address the issue within the law and in a socially acceptable fashion and you go after them like they are stealing your car. "Bigotry' slices both ways, being popular does not make you right.

Ladies, ladies, with or without skirts...please learn your history before stepping out!
Fannie Mae was created in 1938 as part of Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal.
The Federal National Mortgage Association, nicknamed Fannie Mae, and the Federal Home Mortgage Corporation, nicknamed Freddie Mac, have operated since 1968 as government sponsored enterprises (GSEs). This means that, although the two companies are privately owned and operated by shareholders, they are protected financially by the support of the Federal Government.
For the first thirty years following its inception, Fannie Mae held a veritable monopoly over the secondary mortgage market. In 1968, due to fiscal pressures created by the Vietnam War, Lyndon B. Johnson privatized Fannie Mae in order to remove it from the national budget. At this point, Fannie Mae began operating as a GSE, generating profits for stock holders while enjoying the benefits of exemption from taxation and oversight as well as implied government backing. In order to prevent any further monopolization of the market, a second GSE known as Freddie Mac was created in 1970. Currently, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac control about 90 percent of the nation's secondary mortgage market.
val- what are you saying? that we should just shut up and let the KKK come back to life? Are you serious? I don't TOLERATE INTOLERANCE. Period. How can you even suggest that we should just lie back and let intolerant fascists gain more and more control just so we aren't labeled hypocrites??? 'Oh, I don't want anyone to think I'm intolerant, so I'll just go along with it... ' are you kidding me? Call me a hypocrite if you want. If someone takes THEIR OPINION and tries to foist it on someone else that is being INTOLERANT. HAVE the opinion all you want. Keep it OUT of politics, public policy and public schools. Very simple.

How many Palin's does it take to change a light bulb?
Speaking before voters in Colorado Springs, the Republican vice presidential nominee claimed that lending giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac had "gotten too big and too expensive to the taxpayers."
Of course they are private companies....makes for a comfort zone.
