How much does it cost to remove mold in a room?

Profile picture for song san
This weekend I visited a house that has about 2900 sq ft and looks pretty nice. The big thing that I notice in one of the rooms is that I can smell and see some molds. The room is about 14 x 14 and I suspect that two of the adjactent walls might have molds.

Found a small piece of mold at my little brother's house year and we just needed to replace the wood. Don't know how much effort and cost it would take for a room. Trying to figure this out before buying any place with mold.

More importantly, where is the moisture coming from which caused the mold?
Costs for cleaning up the mold will depend on types of materials and total affected area including hidden areas inside the walls.  However, if you don't correct the moisture problem first, the mold will just return.
Common sources of moisture can be poor slope of grade outside the walls of the house causing surface water accumulation at the walls, condensation problems from poor ventilation inside the walls and atttic, and roof or siding leaks.

Order a home inspection to get more information about what is causing the mold and the extent of its presence in the home. If the inspector is a licensed contractor, they can provide estimates for remedying the problems.

Please don't waste your money on air sampling for mold.  You know there is mold there.  You just need to know the extent, cause, and plan for remedy with estimated costs.

How much change do I have in my pocket? I wear 34 x 30 pants. Please answer before I answer your question.

Also, what lab analysis did you use in determining if this is mold? What kind of mold spores? Where did the mold come from and if the mold is removed from premises - will it return?
