How much return can we plan to see on a wooden privacy fence?

We are on a corner lot in a city neighborhood. It is pretty quiet with great neighbors, but we have no privacy in our backyard. Walkers, joggers, and those driving by can see everything though our chain link fence. We would need about 350 feet to replace the old fence. I know how to do it myself to save some money, but want to make sure it will be worth the money and effort when we sell 3-4 years from now.

Althought a privacy fence will add something that makes your home more desirable to more buyers most likely it will not add much dollar value.

More than likely not any at all, but, if it brings the privacy you or a potential home buyer is seeking than it is worth the money.  Hard to put a price on it though.

Good luck!

With so few selections of privacy fences, and the cost being so out of control from week to week,it's a very hard answer from any one to really believe if there telling the truth,or not? With the actual question of,does the old fence needs replacing? The cost of over 300 feet is going to be labor cost effective at any decision. On the Web search for a great source for a fence replacement,or a new fence? The Web Site is (www.cali bamboo.com)This California based company not only offers a large number of fence material selections, but a wide range of pricing. And they are so easy to work with? They get you involved into building your own fence, and stay right there with you until you are complete. As a professional contractor I've used both there many selections of fencing, but also the most beautiful BamBoo Hard Wood Flooring. The most wonderful part is they have so many choices you'll be deciding all day?Great place, and very dependable.Great luck with any way you choose, and may God Bless.

In the eyes of a surveyor the value might not change,,,but in the eyes of  any   individual looking for privacy,  this ammenity could very well seel the deal. In a sense, I'd say that adds value. Curb appeal. A very valuable bargaining tool.

it probably won't add much monetary value to the home, but it will make it more attactive to a greater number of buyers, which potentially means more offers and/or a quicker sale.  Never underestimate the value of good marketability

not to be neg, if it brings u privacy its well worth the emotional investment such as a pool, those are all for your emotional pleasure, privacy fences are very common and kind of one of those expected things, it really doesnt increase your value or decrease it,
