How to find good attorney in Lake county to enforce contract execution.

Hello,

We were trying to buy beautiful custom built house in Lake Zurich, IL. Contract got accepted on Saturday. We've done house inspection, signed mortgage application and ordered appraisal.
Attorney review period was 5 days after the Acceptance date (Saturday). We've got letter from seller's attorney stating that the canceled contract without giving even reason!
Problems:
1. Monday was 6th business day after Acceptance date.
2. No reason for cancellation was given!
3. Just morally feels bad and not fair.

It looks like they might have a better offer from the buyer who previously walked away from the deal due to the financing problems that was taking care of.

This is for the property that is located in Lake Zurich, IL. It looks like the court is located in Waukegan, IL. It will be the most cost effective to find a lawyer in this area.

If you have any good lawyer that you can recommend it will really help. I would like to hear you comments and suggestions.

Thank you!

Your suspicions may be valid, unfortunately the attorney review period is 5 business days after acceptance.  The first business day would begin on Monday.  During the attorney review period, the seller does not need to give a reason.  The attorney can merely declare the contract null and void.

It's not fair, but hopefully, there is a reason this house didn't work out and a better option comes along.

Hi Blub!

Interesting to note that NJ's attorney review (3 business days, unless extended by the attorneys) is similar  to IL in that no reason is needed to cancel the sale. (by either party)

It was 6th business day after the Acceptance day. The attorney period has been expired at the time they sent cancellation.

The dates on contract and cancellation letter are going to be the determining factors. If in fact Monday is the 6th full business day, then you would have cause. Did you use an agent to purchase? If so, they should be able to recommend an attorney for you.

That was dumb...obviously you didn't use an agent, or else you wouldn't be asking for a recommendation. What I should have said was call a local office in your area. They should be able to reccomend someone for you.

I do use agent and attorney. They are really great and helpful.

The only reason I post here is to get the list of good lawyers in Waukegan, IL and figure out if someone else had the same issue.
