How to obtain a 100k mortgage, putting 300k down when I am from the UK and cant easily prove income?

I am from the UK and want to purchase a home here. My wife is American but has been out of the country for 10 years. So we have little history. In the UK I have an excellent credit rating but being self employed for the last couple of years makes it hard to prove income. As we only want to borrow 25% of the house value i thought this would be OK but conventional lenders wont consider us. Is there a specialist broker who could help?
