The MLS number is part of listing it with a member of the MLS. There may be a way to list with a flat rate/discount company in your area, but either way you will have to pay a commission to the buyers agent and something to the listing agent. MLS access is not free. Sorry.

Yea Im thinking the best way is to purchase as an alacarte type of approach through company's like discount brokers; assit2sell??, where you pay an upfront fee and than pay the buyer agent their fee. Will continue my research and contacts
I had to reread my post as I didnt think i was insinuating nor anticipating an MLS would be free lol.

Checked out the website.. thanks for sharing... but, if you don't mind, what is the catch??

Catch? Who said there was a catch? Their business model is to make money off the buy side - sellers buy homes, they want you to use them when you buy, the MLS listing service is a hook. There's virtually no cost for a member to put a listing onto an MLS....
Depending on your location, you could also check out Redfin (for additional services), 4salemls.com, housepad.com, etc.....

That link goes to Iggys. I tried selling a house through that Iggys outfit when they first started, must be a couple of years ago now. IMO totally useless. The MLS they use isn't the one used by realtors.

I agree with ZUser1. I just ckecked out Iggys, and followed the link "See which MLS we would use" there. I typed my zip code and got "We would list this property on MetroList Multiple Listing Service." But nobody uses Metrolist for my zipcode. Agents use www.pro.mlslistings.com professional site and individual buyers use www.mlslistings.com public site. The public site has less features than the pro site, but it does give access to all the active and pending listings available on pro site. So, if by any chance you are in a SF Bay Area, you need to make sure your listing shows up on these sites, and Iggys will NOT assist you with achieving this.

Iggys doesn't belong to every MLS in the country, and they don't pretend to be prepared to get all listings entered, for free, into the correct MLS. If they're not able to enter your listing into the correct MLS then they offer to enter it into the closest MLS that they belong to. They give you the ability to verify which MLS your listing would go into, if it is the correct one for your location great, if it isn't, well then you may have to ante up a couple hundred bucks to get an entry in the correct one.
It's simply a possible option, an option that has worked very well for many people. And just for the sake of clarity, all of the MLSs that they're members of and enter listings into, are owned, operated and used by realtors.
Mikal.
The site reads clearly, 'we list on the MLS for FREE' .
now all the 'tapdancing' begins?
Well.....not ALL the the MLS..........
Well its NOT really free, its still commis based just like everyone else if yer home sells....
tap dance tap dance tap dance...........
Since when do realtors CHARGE to list someones house on the MLS ? I would find another realtor.

Tom,

Care to try and back that up? Any reason that you would say that?

If you consider signing a contract that says you're going to pay 5% or 6% of the sales price as free, well, knock yourself out!

I used www.owner.com I paid less than $400 and got a "transaction broker" within 2 days. She sent me all the paperwork, I filled it out, faxed back. Got on MLS that day I sent in the paperwork. Worked great! My listing is on several sites - realtor.com
Also, I put in 2.8% commission to the agent who brings the buyer. That has helped get realtors to show my house!
I am hopeful to sell!
I had several realtors/friends come through and give me suggestions. I am in process of repainting my house (never painted most of it from the off white original). It is making huge difference. Now considering staging.
I have some good things going for me: Great location, houses in neighborhood selling and I am priced well. Otherwise, you may need to consider an agent - but screen carefully. Get them to write down exactly what you will get from them. Don't be disappointed - make sure you ask what they will do to market your home!

How to purchase an MLS#
Does anyone know how to acquire an MLS# when trying to sell house FSBO? I know there must be a way.. suggestions are greatly appreciated.
