I would recommend contacting an appraisal company to do a simple measurement of your home along with floorplan. You can get both for approx. $100. This way you are more exact on your square footage and you have accurate measurements when you sell your home in the future. You can also use the floorplan drawing at a later date too, which Buyers love. I always hire a company to put one of these together for me on every listing.

Experience has shown that a quick way to get a pretty close estimate for your home's square footage is to measure the outside dimensions and multiply width X depth. If you have more than one floor, multiply the square footage of the first floor times 2. Most home's exterior walls are only 4 inches thick so your total square footage will not be far from the actual. Note: do not count the basement area square footage. Appraisers as a rule do not count the square footage of a home that is below the grade of the ground around it.

If you have a copy of a prevoius appraisal that has been completed on your home, it will show square footage. If you do not have access to that, contact your local county agency of public records and they should be able to provide that to you. Good Luck~

You could measure it, or contact your county for their public records, or ask a friendly Realtor to see if they have that info on file somewhere...

How would I be able to find out the square footage of my home?
