I'm pre-approved for a $300K home and thinking of looking in San Diego, CA. Best neighborhoods?

Wish list: 3 bed, 2 bath single family detached home, open floor plan, decent sized backyard and close to hospitals for commute (I am a physical therapist, probably going to work at any hospital down in SD or at a military base).

I would highly suggest a condo in La Jolla. It's a 15 minute drive from downtown and the perfect area for you to establish yourself.

NorthPark (as suggested), Hillcrest, Downtown, East Village, SouthPark, Bankers Hill, not sure about the criteria being met for 3 bed, big backyard, but you might find something pretty close. You can always extend your search and find a fixer, but you will be competing offers with cash investors who are looking for 3 bed properties. -RealJonMorris

Find a professional that will ask you the questions that will make a difference. It is about your goals so work, school, shopping, and neighborhood must be addressed best of luck. Let me know if you need assistance in creating a search that will give you an idea of what is out here in beautiful sunny San Diego.

If you are looking under $300K detached homes, Best places you will find at that price is National City 91950, Spring Valley 91977, Escondido 92025 92027, Encanto 92114, Paradise Hills 92139, South Bay 92154, Logan Heights 92113 92102, City Heights 92105. There are pocket Neighborhoods that you may find good. But the best way is to go around and look at the area and get a feel for it. What may be fine for some may not be nice for others. I have lived in these areas and can show you around. Prices are rising in all areas. So I would definitely look for properties right away and get into something real soon. If you can go above 400K, You will probably finds a good neighborhood in Serra Mesa 92123, Clairemont 92117, 92111. And Mira Mesa 92126 are very nice neighborhoods.

I suggest NorthPark.   It's affordable, nice, central area.  It is a hip area with great bars, venues, art walks, food, etc.   NorthPark is close to the Navy Hospital.  Minutes from downtown.  It sounds perfect for what you need.

I work in North San Diego County and would suggest Oceanside (near Camp Pendleton), San Marcos and Escondido.  Our prices here are very high, so pls don't expect a lot, but there are homes out there in your price range.  We have several hospitals here also: Tri-Med, Kaiser, Scripps Encinitas(great rehab dept.), Palomar and more. Email, or give me a call.  The best to you and Happy 4th!.

I'm in contract with a client right now for a 1000+ sq, 3 bedroom, detached home at $295k. They're diamonds in the rough, but are definitely out there.

Contact me if you want some more information.

Not happening. Not for $300K.

Main areas around hospitals where you might get in for $300K are down in Chula Vista (Sharps, Chula Vista), maybe the Lemon Grove or El Cajon area (Sharps, Grossmont), and possibly Santee (Kaiser).

You don't state what you consider "decent sized", nor do you mention anything about schools. Both could further narrow your options.

But, for $300K, your options are going to be limited.

Good luck.

Hi-
There are only going to be a few areas in San Diego where you can get a three bedroom detached home for under $300K. Call me directly and we can discuss your options and strategy...

Thanks!

Best neighborhoods anywhere depend of your needs and likes.  I suggest that you contact a few Realtors and  discuss your needs.  Good luck!
