Zillow is a good place for gathering information and meeting a Realtor and a loan officer. But I wouldn't use it to determine a home's value. You really need a local Realtor for that.

Zillow is a very informative site. You can find the value, and also get loan info if you need it !

You can buy a 15K house in Cincinnati if you are quick on the trigger, working with an agent, don't mind alot of work and not so great neighborhood.  Would be a cash purchase of course.

Once again Mike is on the money, but perhaps too polite.  Zillow is great for getting started and asking questions, but it's useless when it comes time to actually finding available bank owned properties and start making offers.  Work with a local realtor.

I don't think you can get a home, nor condo for 15,000 in Columbus, OH.  Good luck.

The advantage of Zillow is that you can search the entire country for your criterion.  Sure, you will still need to get local data and help from people in the local area; but there are few places that make so much data readily available and searchable.

Sure, $15k, is plenty to buy a house in many parts of Mississippi.  Not sure what you can find in Ohio as I haven't looked.  Press the "homes" tab at the top of this page, and then use the filters on the left column to set your criterion.  You likely will want to set a minimum price and minimum sq footage and minimum lot size to avoid typos and phishing leads.

Also, remember that some Realtors stick in Monthly rentals, and "time shares", so be sure to read what is really being offered before getting excited about a "list price".  And if the price is too good to be true, it probably is.  They may be looking for multiple bids, or the property might be really trashed.  The birds-eye views and street views will help some to look at condition; but at some point, you actually need to visit the property if you haven't ruled it out.

It really depends on your income stream.  It would be to your benefit to contact a couple of realtors from different offices, interview them and see if they can assist you.

Zillow is a marketing company it's not a real estate company. While there are homes listed for sale on Zillow, you might have better luck searching for a Realtor in the agents directory and calling them.
