Please contact a local lender or mortgage broker that can help you find out what you need to do to start the process to repair /rebuild your credit; most lenders/investors will require at least a 3year history of clean credit after a discharge. You will need to work hard to repair the credit and get all in order so that you can take advantage of the lowest rate possible ; Dont fall victim to very high rates and rush into a risky loan situation;
good luck;

Your best advice will come from your attorney. Second- a mortgage officer or a local credit advice person. There are publicly funded agencies that will assist in repairing or building good credit.

There are many factors that go into determining the answer to your question. When you talk to lenders, these are some of the things they'll ask: When was the date of discharge? what type of bankruptcy? What was included in the bankruptcy (e.g. a home?)? How are your credit scores? How much down payment do you have?
The answer tends to be several years.

I am only a real estate agent, your best option is to talk to a mortgage company, so they can go over everything personally.
I have talked to a few mortgage brokers and they have said it is best to wait 4 years. And rebuild you credit during that time. You will get a better interest rate the longer you wait. Good luck!
