I suggest you contact a realtor who works in that area, you can find one up above under professionals.
We are hearing of people being scammed so make sure you meet the people, look at the place and make sure that the mortgage is paid up too, use a real estate professional.I agree with wordsmith, regarding rentals theres some not so nice stuff going on.

Don't pay until you've inspected the house. And until you've made sure that whoever listed it actually is the owner or landlord. I just answered another question here from someone who'd been scammed for $900 on a rental.
Call up a local Realtor. Preferably not the listing agent. Your local Realtor should be able to give you most of the details and get you in to see the property.
