I am very familiar with Cerritos since I used to live here and currently works in this neighborhood. Cerritos do have good schools and is considered a desirable city to live in.

Drive through it and look at it and follow your gut:
Do you see barred windows, security screen doors, security system signage everywhere, old cars, old appliances or toilets in the yard,
people in sleeping bags in the brush, Hookers and pimps on the corners, drug dealers shooting each other, do the police avoid the area, hear any gunfire or blood curdling screams, see anyone running from an old lady with a purse under their arm?
These are some clues you might want to keep driving.
