The income can be used on most loan programs. More commonly USDA and FHA.

Section 8 allows for purchase as well as rent. Welfare income is generally not acceptable as it is not a gauranteed (stable) income. If you are receiving survivor benefits from a deceased spouse and are other wise on social security for whatever reasons, theat income may be used with conditions specific application.

Poverty is not a character flaw. However, consistently spending more than you can generate often is. This can occur at any socio-economic level...not just on welfare. I am equally opposed to the very poor outspending their means as I am to those in any other income bracket. If someone "reaches" using credit for a vacation or doesn't buy a house in all cash but can easily afford the monthly payments on these debts, that's fine in my book. If someone cannot meet their basic needs, debts and other monthly obligations and continues to over-spend, that's not fine.

Sadly, some douche bag has chosen to use Shquia Jones as the purported author of this thread. If you are looking to blame the housing/economic crisis on African-Americans (and not greedy lenders and consumers who were living beyond their means), I pity you and would encourage you to read a book or at least open your eyes. Take a look at the past two presidents, I don't believe that either of them were African-Americans. Education is key, why not get one? Thanks "Shquia" !
