Francesca, what exactly about Sunny's post did you find deserving of such a rude response such as yours??? Are you condoning Nolan's attempt at circumventing Zillow's rules and blatant dishonesty???
Sunny doesn't just post a lot but she posts quality and if your posts on this thread are any indication, that's more than you can say since you initially repeated (on an old thread) what had already been said number of times prior and then for some odd reason decided to pick on one of Zillow's most widely respected posters.
How do you think your posts came across to consumers on here??

@Francesca Sorry that you do not think that posters with agent profiles on Zillow like Mr. Nolan should be backed with a license. You are welcome to your opinion, but I feel that people looking at Zillow should know if it's an licensed agent posting or not.

FSBO sellers can easily go to Home Depot and get a combo lockbox. You will not need to pay any professional fees and if you get lucky, you could possibly save some money.

Mr. Nolan
You can't identify yourself as an agent if YOU are not the agent. Your profile is deceiving.
If your owner has a CA license, they can register as an 'Agent' on Zillow.
YOU and your company can register as a 'Pro' on Zillow.
Personally I appreciate the information that there is a company willing to buy Suprae boxes as our local association is considering dropping GE as their provider - which would leave a lot of boxes for sale.

Sunny,
You need to go away.I'm told by the Zillow folks that you have no association with Zillow and they have no idea who you are. Get a life and stop offering ill advise.

Supra lockboxs are reserved for licensed real estate brokerages only. You can hire a flat fee company to provide same depending upon the price that you pay, but I can tell you that doing so will not help your efforts to sell.

Go up Home Depot and get a top of line combo box. They will help you find what you need at the store.

You can purchase supra lock boxes at LockBoxSwap. I am even able to sell [Promotion and hotlinks removed by Zillow moderator. Please see our Good Neighbor Policyfor more information.] back to them when I am no longer using them.

The I box was sometimes a problem if the buyer's Realtor did not have the Keycard. A Combo box will not lock anyone out, unless it freezes.

You can also rent one from a registerd realtor in your area. Don not buy on ebay for they usually can not be reprogrammed to your area.

This thread is a bit old, but I recently came across an electronic lockbox made by Ryobi. It's designed for the building trade, but would have applications in real estate. The only down side is the battery needs to be recharged after 9 months. And lord knows some listings linger on the market more than 9 months.

The reason the NWMLS uses the Supra key box is because registers who and when the box was opened.
If you use a contractor lock box how will you know who is using it? I would only use a contractor box if the house is vacant. Other wise you might come home to missing items. We are living in difficult times. Be careful.

And as Rockinblu stated in his blog, as soon as they leave change the lock-box combo.
It still won't help when the agent or potential buyer takes a key impression to have a key made for coming back later. Probably any Home Depot would make a key from a molded key from an impression without even thinking about it.

Yeah you probably just want to stay away from any sticky situations and go with the contractor keybox. They are pretty cheap and you can get them at places like, Home Depot, Lowes, etc. When agents call you up wanting to show your house you can just tell them the combo and ask them to leave their card on the kitchen counter(so you can follow up with them for feedback!).
Also, if an unrepresented buyer calls you up and wants to see the inside of the house, you can give them the code to the lockbox(no key required). Of course you would still probably want to meet them out at the listing so as to make sure no accidental damage is done to the property.

From Rockinblu's blog previously referenced:
"You can also generally buy one used on ebay. However, it will have to be re-programmed for your area. GE will do that for $25 if you send a letter (must be on business letterhead) from both the old MLS and the new one giving permission for the re-programming. You may call 1-800-545-9601 for more info. If all this seems too complicated just opt for the Supra C-3 push button (see first link), or the Ryobi model available online from Home Depot (second link),and change the combination regularly."
In other words, both the old and new MLS need to grant permission, which is probably no big deal for an agent transferring, but could be an issue for a one time FSBO that isn't licensed. But it still doesn't hurt to check with the broker that one selects for the MLS listing to see if they could provide such a letter for reprogramming. There could be an issue if the FSBO wants to keep the lockbox after selling, but most FSBO have no need for it after the fact, so could easily give it to the broker, or sell at a small cost. How that compares with renting the box, who knows?

Don't buy an ibox off ebay, for agents to use the electronic lockbox it needs to be registered with the Realtors Association (which they will only do for members). Nearly all of the fixed fee brokerages we are affiliated have a supra ibox as an optional part of their listing package. You will need to rent one that is registered by a member in good standing of the MLS/Realtor Association. Good luck.

You could purchase a contractor's box. These boxes have codes on them that open and the key is inside. You may want to think about this option though. There is no way to track who enters your home if you are not present. Good Luck! Tami

You have to have an agent install one for you. You can contact a local Realtor to have them install one for you. Many local agents will have discounted rates for basic services like listing only. They can be purchased at the local Real Estate office but you will need a supra key to install it.
I am selling fsbo, where can I find a supra ibox?
