I actually just read a study that said that promotional materials that included quotes or short complimentary anecdotes from clients were very effective and tended to get great weight from prospective clients. I also think that it's important that your promotional materials sound and "look" like you so that they are a solid honest representation of what your bring to a client. I think that honesty always makes people feel more at ease and more likely to call back.

I have always asked the agents I consult with to draw from their relevant experiences in the past and how these can help their client gain an advantage in a transaction.
Ultimately, the brochure is about the value you bring to the table.
Also, have a section where you talk about you on a personal level. Real Estate is an emotional business and oftern consumers will lean towards a person they feel they know.
This is an example of a profile I've helped an agent with: http://www.century21.com/agent/index.jsp?id=10832226

I am working on a personal brochure. What are some of the most effective items to put in it?
