I've noticed that they've added quite a bit more dynamic function to the maps that property lists; which takes more bandwidth to transfer.

Are you on "dial up"? You may need to use firefox with the ad-blocker plus add on. Or you may need to turn images off. Using the "list mode" you still can get look up functions now without the maps.
